Biography
Nan's practice centers primarily on products liability litigation. She has extensive experience in identifying and developing expert witnesses across the United States in national pharmaceutical litigation involving various products. In addition, Nan is a member of a team responsible for a state-wide docket of cases alleging injuries from hip and knee implants. Nan has represented several medical device manufacturers and has extensive knowledge of Texas venue law.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Baylor University, her master's degree in English from Middlebury College at the Bread Loaf School of English, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston. As an intern, Nan worked at the Houston office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. While in law school, Nan was also an assistant head casenotes & comments editor for the Houston Journal of International Law, a student editor for the Law and Society Review, and a class representative for the Student Bar Association. Prior to entering the legal field, she was an English teacher and educational consultant and studied the educational programs of East and West Germany in 1990 after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Awards
In 2007-2008, Nan was named Outstanding Committee Chair for her founding Tomorrow's Attorneys Pipeline Program (TAPP), a diversity program working with high school students. SHB received the Houston Young Lawyers Association's Diversity Award for its support of TAPP, which has won state and national awards. In 2008, Nan was nominated for the ABA YLD National Outstanding Young Lawyer Award.
In 2006 and in 2007, Nan was named a Texas Rising Star, an award which recognizes approximately 2.5 percent of the best up-and-coming attorneys in the state.
In 2005, she was named Outstanding Committee Chair for her service on the Houston Young Lawyers Fun Run Committee, and she is a 2005 fellow of the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation.
Memberships
Nan is a member of the Texas Bar, the Houston Bar Association, and the American Bar Association, including the Section of Litigation, the Women's Advocate Committee, and the Trial Practice Committee. In 2005 and 2006, Nan served as the chair of the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation 5K "Tie One on for Charity," which raises money for several non-profit organizations in the Houston area. In 2007, she established "Tomorrow's Attorneys Pipeline Program," a Houston Young Lawyers Association diversity program working with high school students.
Active in the local Houston arts community, Nan is a board member for CathARTx, a non-profit art education program for children living in residential facilities, and she was a member of the Houston Arts Alliance's 2007 Steering Committee for the MetLife Foundation National Arts Forum Series.
