Biography

Jennise has extensive experience representing Fortune 500 companies in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, medical device, professional, medical, and service industries. Her experience includes deposing and presenting fact and expert witnesses; preparing and successfully arguing substantive and procedural pre-trial motions in state and federal courts and obtaining dismissals; conducting jury selection; cross-examining fact and expert witnesses at trial; successfully arguing and examining witnesses for post-trial motions; managing large multi-case litigations; and counseling clients on pre-litigation strategy.

Jennise is a member of the firm management as administrative partner for SHB’s Houston office and serves on the SHB Women's Management Council. She was named a Rising Star in Texas Monthly for 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, and has provided pro bono counsel and volunteered in her community throughout her career. Jennise has been an active member in various legal organizations, chairing and serving on various committees that focus on children and local schools, and was awarded the President’s Award for outstanding service by the Houston Bar Association in 2008. She was also named as a “40 Under 40” by the Houston Business Journal in 2010 for her contributions to the industry and community.

During law school, she was Editor-in-Chief and founder of the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal. In addition, she was the Best Advocate and Champion of the Texas Invitational and was Regional Champion of the Association of Trial Lawyer’s of America mock trial competitions. Jennise was selected to the Order of the Barristers, a member of the Board of Advocates and awarded the Distinguished Advocate Award, Achievement in Advocacy Award and the Faculty Award for Distinguished Service to the Law Center.

Matters of Note

Second chair trial experience in representing a major world-wide pharmaceutical company in multiple trials and achieving three favorable defense verdicts in wrongful death and personal injury multi-million dollar complex product-liability cases.

First chair trial experience representing a large home warranty provider in a breach of contract dispute and achieving a favorable defense verdict.

First chair trial experience representing an automotive manufacturer in complex products liability cases and obtaining favorable defense decisions in administrative proceedings.

First chair experience representing major pharmaceutical, medical device and other manufacturers in products and breach of contract disputes and obtaining summary judgment dismissals.
