The development and honing of legal skills occurs not only through extensive formal training seminars, such as trial-practice programs, deposition-skills courses and business-law presentations, but also informally through division, section and practice group training and development programs.
The firm conducts informative and eagerly anticipated CLE programs on a regular basis, and seminars for CLE credit hosted by several different SHB practice groups are also held throughout the year. The CLE programs, which often feature dynamic speakers from corporate clients' legal departments and state and federal benches across the country, focus on cutting-edge legal issues directly related to lawyers’ day-to-day practice. Examples include offensive and defensive uses of the Daubert standard for admissibility of expert testimony, e-discovery, complex litigation issues, and ethics.
