Established in 2000 in the landmark Regions Bank Building, Shook, Hardy & Bacon's Tampa office has more than 40 attorneys and professional staff and provides a range of legal services, with expertise in product liability and business litigation.

Shook Tampa’s clients include many of the world’s largest multinational companies in the pharmaceutical, chemical, tobacco, financial services, construction and design, and consumer goods industries. We have assisted in the defense of Philip Morris USA in tobacco litigation throughout the state of Florida, and in many of these trials, securing complete defense verdicts.

Shook Tampa represents companies in a number of substantive practice areas, including commercial and employment litigation, product liability, class actions, toxic torts, design and construction litigation, trucking litigation, and intellectual property litigation.

Recent Tampa cases include federal multidistrict litigation, defending product liability claims from the use of prescription drugs and implantable medical devices, counseling Food and Drug Administration-regulated companies on compliance issues, defending class actions involving various types of claims, defending construction and design claims, and handling cases involving restrictive covenants.

While our attorneys have brought more than 100 cases to trial since the Tampa office opened in 2000, the team’s thorough and detail-oriented discovery practice has effectively resolved a number of cases without the need for a trial, saving clients time and money.

Shook Tampa has received numerous awards and honors including being named as Florida's Legal Elite by Florida Trend Magazine, ranked among the Top 25 Most Diverse Law Firms in South Florida by the Daily Business Review and winning a spot on the “Top 10 Verdicts” by the National Law Journal. In 2015, Shook Tampa received the “Litigation Department of the Year” award from the Daily Business Review along with Shook’s Miami office.

Our pro bono commitment helps underprivileged and at-risk youth in Hillsborough County through partnerships with Crossroads for Florida Kids, the Hillsborough County Guardian Ad Litem Program and Bay Area Legal Services. In 2013, the Hillsborough County Bar Association awarded Shook’s Tampa office the Outstanding Pro Bono Services by a Law Firm award. Through each of these partnerships, we represent youth in court, and we often serve as mentors outside of court. In addition, Shook Tampa partners with local community organizations including Children's Cancer Center, The Pace Center for Girls, Florida’s Children First, and the Tampa Metro YMCA.
