Shook Recognized by Equality Illinois for Dedication to LGBT Diversity

Shook, Hardy & Bacon has been recognized for “Raising the Bar” by Equality Illinois, the state’s oldest and largest LGBT civil rights organization. The organization identifies law firms that provide a “welcoming and fair work environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees and engage with the LGBT community.”

Shook is one of 40 law firms recognized by Equality Illinois in 2016.

“Through intentional investment and leadership, Shook promotes diversity and inclusion within our firm and within our communities,” said Shook Chair John Murphy. “We appreciate this recognition from Equality Illinois that Shook is a place where all can succeed.”

Equality Illinois looks at a variety of factors including personnel policies, civil union and same-sex partner benefits, diversity trainings and engagement with the LGBT community-at-large.

Shook has previously been recognized for its LGBT diversity and inclusion practices and environment; the firm received a score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2016 Corporate Equality Index, a report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, for the seventh consecutive year.
