Shook, Hardy & Bacon Kansas City Partner and Tort Section Chair Rob Adams was named 2016 Product Liability Attorney of the Year by LMG Life Sciences, a directory of the life sciences industry’s leading law firms and litigators. Adams was recognized Sept. 14 at the LMG Life Sciences Ceremony, at The Essex House in New York City.

Shook serves as National Counsel in litigation for Boston Scientific Corp. regarding its pelvic mesh products. Adams has served as one of Boston Scientific Corp.’s first-chair trial attorneys. Among Adams’ many achievements, he has received defense verdicts for Boston Scientific in several pelvic mesh trials, most recently in February 2016, in the first trial of two mesh manufacturers

A member of Shook’s Executive Committee, Adams heads trial teams for some of Shook’s largest corporate clients in jurisdictions throughout the country. He has first-chaired more than 40 jury trials and argued appeals that have established precedent for later cases. A Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a Member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Product Liability Counsel, Adams frequently presents at legal conferences nationwide on trial-practice strategies and effective deposition techniques.

Selection for LMG Life Sciences was based on extensive research that included nearly 1,000 interviews with law firm lawyers and in-house counsel, as well as surveys completed by attorneys in the life sciences field. Attorneys were recognized in four categories: regulatory, intellectual property, finance & transactional and non-IP litigation and enforcement.
