MLM Selects Shook Partners to 2023 Construction Power List

Missouri Lawyers Media, which publishes Missouri Lawyers Weekly, has named two Shook partners to The POWER List. Business Litigation Co-Chair Michael Cargnel and Partner Laura Lawson were featured in the The POWER List: Construction Law 2023. The POWER List is a regular feature from MLM that examines the power brokers who lead and influence various parts of the Missouri legal community.

Cargnel co-chairs the firm’s business litigation practice and focuses his practice on complex commercial disputes, with a special emphasis on construction. “In addition to his litigation services, clients trust him to deliver solid business advice,” wrote MLM. Cargnel defends and prosecutes performance, payment and defect claims with an emphasis on large heavy civil projects in the water, geotechnical and energy industries.

As part of her construction law practice, Lawson represents design professionals, contractors and owners. Earlier this year, she was part of the team that secured a multi-million-dollar deal for an international port security enhancement project in South America. Lawson also defends medical device manufacturers in product liability cases.

In order to be considered for The POWER List, the Missouri Lawyers Weekly editorial team interviews respected attorneys and leaders around the state and reviews outcomes of significant cases and state records to determine the lists of what they believe to be the most powerful people in each part of the state’s legal community.
