Daily Journal Picks Shook Win Among Top Verdicts in California

Premier trial firm Shook, Hardy and Bacon was among several firms recognized by the Daily Journal for obtaining a significant defense verdict in 2023. The win caught the attention of editors who selected it for its Top Verdicts list, a special supplement on the most prestigious verdicts in California in 2023.

Working in collaboration with other defense firms, the team obtained a defense verdict for The Dow Chemical Company amid allegations by the city of Modesto of contamination of drinking water.

Criteria for inclusion in Top Verdicts is based on dollar amount and impact. Defense victories and appellate reversals are also among the recognized winners.

Shook litigation partners on the defense team include Andrew Carpenter and Patrick Gregory. Carpenter served as legal issues counsel in the complex litigation which included ample scientific evidence. Gregory was instrumental as the California practice authority.
