Ingram’s Features Devers in "The Business End of Corporate Law"
SHB Partner Dan Devers provided commentary in a June 2012 Ingram’s article titled “The Business End of Corporate Law,” which details the evolving financial and legal obstacles facing in-house counsel at multinational corporations.
Devers, who served in the general counsel’s office for Cerner Corporation before joining SHB’s Intellectual Property & Technology Litigation Practice, addressed the pressing need for corporate legal staffs to cut costs while simultaneously navigating a shifting legal landscape. Recalling his experience at Cerner, Devers added that success in today’s legal industry requires a thorough understanding of a company’s business growth objectives.
“After this experience, I am significantly more effective because I understand the lawyer’s role in achieving the best business results for the business,” Devers said. “Senior leadership cares more about the outcomes and efficiency rather than winning every battle or creating an elegant legal solution.”
