Marty focuses his practice on complex product liability litigation and defends companies against personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits. Marty also represents one of Kansas City’s largest hospital systems across multiple forms of litigation, ranging in scope from health and safety lawsuits to data privacy cases. Marty’s legal savvy and skill have quickly garnered the attention of in-house counsel on a national level, as he was named a 2022 Client Service All-Star by BTI Consulting Group based on interviews with general counsel of major American corporations.

Marty maintains an active pro bono practice. He has worked with the Missouri Coalition for the Right to Counsel and served as lead attorney to successfully defend indigent individuals who have been charged with Class A felonies.

Marty is also an active member of Shook’s efforts to develop and mentor young attorneys. He has been a member of the firm’s Associates Committee and has been involved in the firm’s attorney recruitment efforts. Marty has also served as a supervising attorney and social chair for Shook’s summer associate program.
