Marty is a corporate attorney who brings a unique personal understanding of his clients’ perspectives and concerns after having served for 10 years as general counsel for a 200-person Chicago-based technology company.

As general counsel, Marty provided a variety of legal services, including negotiating and drafting the company’s software licensing agreements, marketing agreements, data distribution and licensing agreements, and telecommunication master service agreements. Marty also worked with the company’s development and management team to protect its intellectual property and to assist third parties in their defense against patent infringement claims. In addition, Marty dealt with a variety of employee-related matters, including noncompetition and nondisclosure agreements, and managed outside counsel on numerous matters including complex, high-stakes commercial litigation and the sale of the company.

Marty also was a member of his company’s Executive Committee and Management Committee.

Before serving as general counsel, Marty was a partner with the Chicago law firm Schwartz, Cooper, Greenberger & Krauss. Marty’s practice at Schwartz Cooper encompassed general real estate, corporate and finance matters. Marty also created and chaired the firm’s Technology Law Practice Group and provided corporate and other services to a number of Internet-based companies.
