Sung applies her extensive background in pharmaceutical chemistry to patent infringement and litigation matters. In this capacity, she conducts patentability and freedom to operate searches, in addition to analyzing patent validity and assisting in IP prosecution matters.

Before joining Shook, Sung received both her doctorate and master's degrees in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of Kansas, where her research focused on proteomic study of protein nitration.
