Joanna focuses her practice on complex commercial and products liability litigation. She also has experience defending against consumer fraud, personal injury and unfair trade practice claims in multidistrict and mass tort litigation, as well as counseling and defending clients in related third-party payor actions and government investigations. She has had a significant role on teams defending the makers of Accutane, Reglan, diet drugs and other prescription drugs, including the crafting of successful dispositive motions. On the device side, her experience includes the defense of matters involving pelvic mesh and cardiac pacemaker devices, in both mass tort and stand-alone actions. Joanna’s experience includes defense in toxic tort litigation of an international client which manufactures flavors and fragrances and of a national client which manufactures chemical products, including taking and defending key fact depositions. Her complex commercial litigation practice has included handling all aspects of such litigation, including work for a leading security and alarm company and manufacturers and providers to the construction industry.
During law school, Joanna received legal writing, oral advocacy and pro bono service awards before graduating with high honors. She was also the national first place oral advocacy award winner at the 2008 Hispanic National Bar Association Moot Court Competition, where she was part of a semifinalist team. Prior to practicing law, Joanna spent approximately 10 years working in finance in publicly and privately held corporations, valuation consulting and investment banking. Joanna holds a Master of Business Administration from Drexel University and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and Russian from LaSalle University.
