Bullard Counsels $31M Real Estate Deal in Texas

Partner Ed Bullard (KC - Business Law) recently led a successful representation of real estate investment trust (REIT) Weingarten Realty Investors in its joint venture with a developer in Brownsville, Tex.  The transaction, which will create a retail shopping center in Brownsville, is valued at $31,000,000.

Ed was assisted in this matter by Partner Jay Simpson (KC - Tax), Of Counsel Randy Crump (Houston - Business Litigation), Associates Allen Jones (KC - Business Law), Shannon Vestal (KC - Business Law).  The legal team assisted the majority joint venture partner in the negotiation and documentation of the joint venture, loans by the Weingarten to the joint venture, a management agreement and closed the purchase of the first two of six parcels in the assemblage necessary to develop the shopping center.  Additional tasks in the project will include the negotiation of two separate reciprocal easement agreements, the closing of the remaining  parcels, and the sale of a parcel to the center's anchor tenant.
