Balloun Receives KBA Distinguished Service Award

Partner Gene Balloun last week received the 2007 Kansas Bar Association's Distinguished Service Award for his dedication to the legal profession, longstanding support of his community and commitment to public service.

Gene has practiced law for some 53 years, having appeared before the Kansas Supreme Court and Kansas Court of Appeals in more than 150 matters. He has long been dedicated to providing pro bono legal work on behalf of Children’s Benefit Services for Families, CASA and many other organizations that benefit children.

He is an American College of Trial Lawyers fellow and has been selected as one of the outstanding business litigators in Kansas in numerous editions of The Best Lawyers in America. Gene has received the Lifetime Pro Bono Award from Shook, Hardy & Bacon; pro bono awards from both the KBA and ABA; the Justinian Award from the Johnson County Bar Association; the Whittaker Award from the Lawyers Association of Kansas City; and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel. He has been named a distinguished alumnus by the University of Kansas School of Law and one of 24 "Legends of Kansas City" by Ingram's magazine. Balloun is a lifetime member of the KBA and has served on the Kansas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Balloun earned his B.S. and his J.D. from the University of Kansas.
