Shook, Hardy & Bacon Kansas City Associate Aaron Craig is profiled in an Aug. 31 The Missouri Bar article featuring his passion for music and Jameslee Guitars, his custom-ordered guitar business.
Using his passion for music to balance his work life, Craig expresses, “The practice of law can be stressful. When I’m building a guitar, I have to focus on the task at hand. I turn the music up, shut the door to the shop, and try to take a break from work and other life stressors. I feel like having that time and space to decompress has been good for me both personally and professionally.”
After many years of collecting instruments, Craig, a self-taught guitarist, built his first guitar in 2010. Since then, he has crafted eight acoustic six-string guitars, one acoustic 12-string guitar and a soprano ukulele for his son.
Craig adds, “Ideally, we should all strive to have happy and fulfilling lives outside of the office. I don’t know who said it, but I like the quote, ‘Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative.’ I think those are wise words, and they’ve worked for me.”
