Wajert Offers Ways to Incentivize Cooperative Law Firm Culture
Shook, Hardy & Bacon Philadelphia Managing Partner Sean Wajert weighs in on how law firms can encourage collaboration in an August 3 Law360 article, “How to Snuff Out the Lone Wolf Law Firm Culture.”
"Rewarding cooperation, sharing, teamwork can have a real impact on future behavior,” Wajert notes. “Collaboration and delegation can be part of the formal evaluation and self-evaluation process.”
Wajert suggests, "Modeling good firm citizenship and collaboration can be impactful, and it may help if leaders have a ready example of how collaboration and cooperation can benefit the firm, and an example or two about missed opportunities because of lone wolf behavior. This helps foster a collaborative environment." Wajert explains that through industry-focused teams, firms can foster cross-practice area cooperation; regularly collecting feedback from clients on their team performance can also be valuable.
