Tobón Discusses the Advantages of Secondment Programs

Law Week Colorado has featured Shook, Hardy & Bacon Of Counsel Camila Tobón in an article exploring how both law firms and companies can benefit from secondment arrangements. By placing outside counsel into an organization’s legal department, secondment programs provide new perspectives and create “a multifaceted symbiosis for lawyer, law firm and client.”

The article highlights Tobón’s full-time secondment experience with a Fortune 50 telecommunications manufacturer, noting that Shook uses these arrangements “quite a bit” for short-term projects as well as bridging temporary vacancies in legal departments. “[B]eing in-house is very different than being with a firm,” said Tobón. “Secondment gives a view of that… If the situation is right, it’s a win-win for the firm and the company.”
