AIPLA Names Israel Chair of PTAB Trial Committee
Shook Partner Sharon Israel has been named chair of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board Trial Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA); she will serve a two-year term through October 2020.
Israel is an accomplished litigation attorney who focuses her practice on intellectual property law, with an emphasis in patent litigation. She has litigated patents related to a variety of industries and technologies, including wireless communications, oilfield equipment, consumer electronics, chemicals and medical devices
She is a frequent speaker and writer on IP-related topics, and has previously served in leadership roles in numerous organizations, the State Bar of Texas Intellectual Property Law Section, the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Federal Circuit Bar Association. She currently serves on the Council for the American Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section.
Israel is included among the IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals, and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation. She also has previously served as president of both AIPLA and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
