Shook Attorneys to Speak at NBA-CLS Corporate Counsel Conference

Shook Of Counsel Sonali Gunawardhana and Steve Vieux will be speakers at the 32nd Annual National Bar Association-Commercial Law Section Corporate Counsel Conference in Orlando, Florida, January 31-February 2, 2019.  

Gunawardhana will present “Cybersecurity Law and Practice, and Its Implication for Today’s IOT Devices,” a discussion of the roles and responsibilities of providing legal cybersecurity advice and the development and protection of connected consumer devices, known as the Internet of Things (IoT). 

Vieux will discuss "The Impact of Emerging Technologies to Legal and Risk Management Professionals," exploring the challenges and opportunities of technology and digital business models, as well as the skills that are needed to complement both legal and risk analyses.

With Gunawardhana and Vieux, Partners April Byrd, Jon Gray, Buffy Mims and Leonard Searcy, with Associates Erin Vaughn and Amanda Witts, will be attending the Law Firm Interviewing and Networking Expo at the conference. The Expo offers a unique opportunity for in-house counsel, corporate representatives and government attorneys to share topics of concern and legal trends with law firms from around the globe.

Gray, a past chair of the National Bar Association’s Judicial Council, recently talked to the Commercial Law Section about the conference and its value to attendees.
