Some estimates place cannabis and hemp bio“waste” at nearly 1 million tons in North America in 2019. Shook Partner Stephanie McGraw will be a panelist for “Managing Biomass and Biowaste from the Hemp and Cannabis Industries” December 9, 1:55–2:25 p.m. EST. The presentation is part of the Food Drug & Law Institutes’ (FDLI) 2020 “Legal and Practical Issues in the Evolving World of Cannabis Regulation Conference,” December 8-9.
This virtual event is a spin-off of a presentation topic that McGraw submitted to address the increased biowaste driven by the demand for hemp and cannabis, and panelists will discuss what producers can do with that material and what regulations apply to this biowaste. It will also examine other challenges for handling, transporting and disposing of hemp and cannabis biomass and waste.
McGraw advises consumer product manufacturers and distributors on pre- and post-market safety issues, including compliance with state and federal regulations, warnings and instructions laws, and product recall and corrective action best practices. Her clients include the pharmaceutical and medical device and food, beverage and agribusiness industries.
