John concentrates his practice on complex product liability matters. He defends manufacturers of products from a variety of industries, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemical products and motor vehicles.
Applying the insights he gained as an appellate clerk to better serve his clients, John uses a detail-oriented and methodical approach at all stages of litigation. He has successfully authored and argued dispositive motions in court, handled all phases of discovery, and laid the groundwork in numerous cases with strategic pleadings. Notably, John obtained a favorable decision for his client in a multimillion-dollar binding arbitration, where his work included taking the lead on all pre- and post-arbitration briefing.
Before joining Shook, John was an associate with a national law firm in Minneapolis, where he defended corporations in high-stakes product liability litigation. During law school, John served as a judicial extern in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, successfully represented indigent clients at unemployment compensation hearings and clerked at private litigation firms.
