Stefon works in the General Liability Litigation Group at Shook and defends clients in general liability and product liability litigation, including commercial and complex matters. He assists in all phases of pretrial and trial preparation and practice for a wide array of clients. At trial, Stefon has conducted voir dire, directed and cross-examined witnesses, and argued a jury instruction conference. He is experienced in litigating and defending claims involving negligence, product liability, violation of consumer protection laws, breach of warranties, breach of contract, indemnity, fraud, premises liability and wrongful death. He also has represented clients in negotiation and mediation.
Pro bono work is also important to Stefon. In his Section 1983 practice, Stefon defends his clients’ constitutional rights, including prisoners’ rights litigation. During law school, Stefon participated in the University of Missouri School of Law Veterans Clinic, where he aided veterans seeking disability compensation and discharge upgrades from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Before Shook, Stefon completed the two-month Truman Fellowship with the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law. There, he represented Kansas City tenants who were facing eviction proceedings during the COVID-19 pandemic and CDC eviction moratorium.
