Melissa’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, including complex patent litigation. She has worked on many stages of litigation, including motion practice, fact and expert discovery, depositions and inter partes review. Her practice has involved a range of technologies and industries, including computer hardware and software, telecommunications, consumer electronics, oil field services, and pharmaceuticals. A native of Puerto Rico, Melissa’s language skills have enabled her to represent Spanish-speaking clients as well as negotiate with opposing parties in their own language, leading to a more efficient litigation process.

Before joining the legal profession, Melissa worked as a tennis professional, where she gained valuable client relations skills managing a tennis academy in Houston. Through this experience, she had the opportunity to coach and mentor competitive tennis players, but also honed her entrepreneurial skills by creating tennis programs for Spanish-speaking clients and special-needs children.
