Blake is an experienced associate attorney working in class action and appellate litigation. He has litigated 18 civil jury trials (federal and state) to verdict as co-counsel, achieving seven defense verdicts, and five favorable awards below final settlement offers. Blake has managed and favorably resolved over 70 cases on behalf of defendants.
Blake has taken and defended depositions including F.R.C.P. 30(b)(6) witnesses, experts, persons most knowledgeable, percipient witnesses and plaintiffs. Blake also has conducted mediations and arbitrations. He works closely with inside counsel to develop litigation strategies consistent with business objectives and evaluation of merits, and strategizes management of relationship with retailers and business partners. He can draft and argue motions including motions for judgment on the pleadings, demurrers, motions to compel arbitration, oppositions to motions to compel further discovery, motions in limine and appellate briefs and reviews and assesses appealable issues and analysis of likely success of appeals in federal and state court.
Blake is active in pro bono work. He has handled and settled a police brutality case on behalf of minors for a six-figure settlement; assisted in litigation on behalf of a first female death row inmate in 50 years; and drafted a memorandum which became the backbone of constitutional arguments to the New Hampshire Supreme Court which they adopted, permitting remote legislation.
