Oot and Brown: Live from Legalweek
The 2026 Legalweek Conference offered Shook attorneys the chance to learn more about emerging technologies, according to Shook Partner Jamie Brown. Brown and Shook Complex Litigation Strategic Counseling Co-Chair Patrick Oot were interviewed at the conference by the Legal Speak podcast, which asked Brown about her expectations for Legalweek from the perspective of an attorney in a law firm.
“It's always about evaluating technology but really with an eye towards understanding how it's going to be used and what kinds of legal issues are going to be presented,” Brown said. “Then from there, the task is really putting a plan together to help clients mitigate risk.”
When asked if any vendor stood out, Oot said he saw several compelling technologies. “What we're seeing in practice from just in litigation [is] a cradle-to-grave approach, so really thinking about how you can integrate AI into your practice and your workflows to really help not just to validate what you're doing, but to make it more efficient, to save the higher-level talent for more strategic work and to really fill the time with more focus, more strategy and pushing the drudgery down to the computers,” he said.
