Eight SHB Attorneys Nominated for 2003-04 Who’s Who of Product Liability Defense Lawyers

Eight attorneys from Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P. have been nominated for the 2003-04 edition of The International Who’s Who of Product Liability Defence Lawyers. Harvey L. Kaplan, Gary R. Long, Edward A. Moss, Timothy A. Pratt, Frank C. Rothrock, Stephen E. Scheve, Victor E. Schwartz and Basil C. Bitas have been chosen among a group of leading practitioners.

Kaplan chairs the firm’s Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Litigation Division in the Kansas City, Missouri, office and is a member of the Executive Committee. He is well known for defending pharmaceutical and medical device companies in products liability litigation.

Long is chairman of SHB’s National Products Liability Litigation Group in the Kansas City, Missouri, office and is a member of the Executive Committee. He has extensive experience in the litigation of product liability claims in state and federal courts, including individual claims and class actions.

Moss focuses his practice on products liability matters, complex commercial cases and securities litigation and defense of class actions. He joined the firm’s Miami office following a merger with the Anderson, Moss firm where he was a founding partner.

Pratt is vice chair of the firm’s Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Litigation Division in the Kansas City, Missouri, office. He concentrates his practice in defending pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and in the handling of toxic tort cases. He has served as National and Regional Trial Counsel for manufacturers of numerous products.

Rothrock, a Partner in SHB’s Orange County, California, office, defends companies in pharmaceutical and medical device cases. His background includes experience at both the trial and appellate levels.

Scheve handles the defense of products liability and toxic tort cases in SHB’s Houston office. He has defended and tried cases throughout Texas and has acted as National Coordinating Counsel for clients in multiple litigations.

Schwartz chairs the firm’s Public Policy Group out of the Washington, D.C., office. The focus of the group is to integrate litigation, government affairs and public relations. He has an active appellate practice, and advises product manufacturers on liability issues.

Bitas is a Partner in the Geneva office, concentrating his practice in the area of international business transactions. He has worked extensively throughout Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
