Shook, Hardy & Bacon’s Gerald V. Barron, Joan M. Haratani and Frank P. Kelly, III of the San Francisco office have been selected “Northern California Super Lawyers” by Law & Politics Magazine. The “Northern California Super Lawyers” are outstanding Northern California attorneys, who have been nominated by their peers who have personally observed them in action either as opposing counsel, co-counsel or from first-person observation in the courtroom.
Barron has tried more than 60 cases as lead counsel to juries involving medical malpractice, products liability, intellectual property and various types of injury. For the last several years, he acted as the National Coordinating Counsel for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and its various subsidiary corporations, overseeing the defense of its managed care litigation by local counsel.
Haratani has an extensive trial and pre-trial practice ranging from products liability to securities fraud. She has represented a wide range of clients including a dot.com company in issues relating to breach of fiduciary duty, stock valuation and fraud in the sale of securities. She obtained a complete defense verdict after a lengthy trial for a breast implant manufacturer and, for the past several years, has co-chaired a firm team of lawyers in three mass tort defense actions.
Kelly is a trial lawyer with more than 20 years of experience representing corporate clients in jury trials throughout California and around the country. He has tried catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, primarily for Ford Motor Company
