Donahue Named Among “Top Women Litigators” in California

Alicia Donahue, managing partner for the San Francisco office, has been named one of California’s top women litigators by the Daily Journal, the state’s legal newspaper.  The special edition of the Daily Journal will be distributed June 1 with both the Los Angeles and San Francisco editions of the paper throughout the state. 

Donahue will be among those honored at the second annual gala for “Top Women Litigators,” which will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles May 31.  This event will also “celebrate the victories of women lawyers in the courtroom and the triumphant advancements of women in law.” 

Donahue’s nomination for this honor was based on her 20+ years of experience representing manufacturers of products in both individual and class action cases.  The native San Franciscan and University of San Francisco law graduate has successfully defended manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, juvenile products, and hand and power tools in trial and arbitration.

Since joining Shook, Hardy & Bacon's San Francisco office in 2000, Donahue has successfully defended Philip Morris USA and Lorillard Tobacco Company in numerous personal injury/smoking and health cases.  She has also represented various pharmaceutical companies including Pharmacia and Aventis in both individual personal injury cases and class actions.

Prior to joining SHB, Donahue was Special Counsel in the Product Liability Division of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold's San Francisco office.  She served as Regional Counsel for Bristol Myers Squibb, coordinating the defense of individual breast implant cases in the West, including the jurisdictions of California, Nevada, Oregon, New Mexico, and Arizona.
