Schwartz Named Among 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America
Partner Victor Schwartz was profiled in the June 19 edition of The National Law Journal as being one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America.” This special section titled “Profiles in Power” described Victor as the “leading light of the tort reform movement.”
This is the second time Victor has received this designation – he also was the feature of a “Profile in Power” in 2000, when the list was last published. The publication accepted nominations from law firms across the country and conducted its own research in “looking for attorneys outside the government with the clout to make big things happen.”
The NLJ cited as particularly influential Victor’s position as general counsel to the American Tort Reform Association and his co-chairmanship of the Civil Justice Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council, which proposes model tort reform legislation. The NLJ also pointed out that he has made frequent appearances before congressional committees, including testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee warning against the criminalizing of products liability law.
“We were looking for lawyers who had a national impact in their fields and beyond,” the publication wrote, “especially over the past five years—lawyers who have the power to shape public affairs, launch industries, shake things up and get things done.”
