Firm Named to NLJ’s Elite “Defense Hot List”

Shook, Hardy & Bacon is one of 14 firms nationwide whose “exemplary, cutting-edge work on the defense side” over the past year has been singled out for recognition on the National Law Journal's 2006 "Defense Hot List.”

The August 21 edition of the NLJ features three trial successes from each of the 14 firms honored.  The editors were impressed by the diverse nature of Shook’s defense work as exemplified by Weston v. Wyeth (Harvey KaplanMatthew Keenan, and Marie Woodbury), Goldych v. Eli Lilly and Co. (Michelle Mangrum) and Blackwell v. DaimlerChrysler Corp. (Bill Martucci and Kevin Smith).

“We looked for firms with an overall impressive track record that scored at least one significant defense win within the past 12 months,” NLJ editors wrote.  “We’re most interested here in firms that prevailed in a bench or jury trial, especially when the financial stakes were high, or where a win might set the tone for litigation strategy or determine the outcome of similar cases nationally.”
