SHB Ranks #1 Among Most Active U.S. Law Firms

Shook, Hardy & Bacon was the most active firm nationwide in terms of federal and state docket filings and case law opinions from January 2005 to June 2006, according to recent data from Thomson’s West Monitor Suite, as reported in the August edition of California Lawyer.  During the same period, the firm also ranked as the 5th most active firm in the state of California. 

“One thing that this statistic shows is that a firm doesn’t have to be the largest in terms of headcount in order to have the most activity on respective dockets,” said SHB Chairman John F. Murphy.  “It’s also a testament to the firm’s tradition of being a leader in litigation and excelling in trial work.”

Only the firm of Reed Smith joined SHB on both the California and federal listings.  Following those two firms on the nationwide listing were Arnold & Porter, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, Holland & Knight, and Sidley Austin.
