Brooks-Hammond Selected for Bar Leadership Academy

Lisa Brooks-Hammond has been selected to participate in the Fourth Annual Greater Kansas City Bar Leadership Academy, a year-long educational program designed to increase diversity among Missouri bar leadership.

The first session of this year’s Leadership Academy, “The Role of Leadership for the Lawyer,” took place September 29, 2006, and featured presentations from bar association leaders and area law school professors.  Future sessions will include:  Leadership Challenges and Issues; Community and Political Leadership; Association Challenges & Issues; Communications & Marketing; and Organizational Leadership.  Each class also develops and carries out a community service project, and academy graduates pledge an additional two-year commitment of service to The Missouri Bar.

Sponsored by The Missouri Bar Committee on Minority Issues, the academy is supported by the Asian-American Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Association for Women Lawyers, the Eastern County Bar Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, the Jackson County Bar Association, the Johnson County Bar Association, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
