Nine SHB Lawyers Named to Best of the Bar
The Kansas City Business Journal's Fifth Annual "Best of the Bar" supplement has named Shook, Hardy & Bacon Partners Rob Adams (KC - Tort), Jim Beck (KC - Business), Laura Clark Fey (KC - Tobacco Litigation), John Johnston (KC - Tort), Harvey Kaplan (KC - PMDLD), Bill Martucci (KC - Business Litigation), Madeleine McDonough (KC - PMDLD), Pat McLarney (KC - Administration), and Joel Mosher (KC - Tort) among those metro-area lawyers recognized by their peers as professionals most worthy of respect and admiration. The journal solicited votes from all active lawyers in Jackson, Clay, Platte, Wyandotte, and Johnson counties. Voting was conducted online, and the top vote-getters were vetted by a panel of distinguished lawyers, who provided a final check on the honorees' reputations and professional standings.
To personalize the listings, characterized as "a snapshot of premier players in the Kansas City area's legal community," the journal included a brief statement from each lawyer. Madeleine expressed her gratitude "to work with people who not only do whatever they can to achieve great results for clients, but who also provide money, time and creative thinking to different charitable and non-for-profit organizations each month in Kansas City and around the country." Laura provided her thoughts about personal challenges, highlighting efforts to persuade a major firm client "to select me as the first woman (and first associate) to try a case for that corporation. We won, and since then, I've been blessed with incredible opportunities to demonstrate Shook, Hardy & Bacon's expertise in litigating and trying complex cases."
Bill has been named to the list for five years; Rob, Harvey and Pat have made the cut for four years, and John has been named twice. This is a first appearance for Jim, Laura, Madeleine, and Joel.
