McLaughlin Appointed to Justice for Children Board of Directors
Partner Scott McLaughlin has been appointed to the board of directors of Justice for Children, a national child advocacy organization.
Scott's dedication to children's rights dates to a pro bono matter he handled for Justice for Children in 1995. It was his first pro bono case. Yavapai-Apache v. Mejia, 906 S.W.2d 152 (Tex. App. 1995).
Headquartered in Houston, Justice for Children was founded in 1987 by Randy Burton, a former Chief Prosecutor of the Family Offenses Section of the Harris County district attorney's office and a group of concerned citizens in response to the inadequacies and failure of the child protective system to protect abused and neglected children. The group strives to raise awareness about child abuse, provide legal advocacy for abused children, and develop and implement collaborative solutions to enhance the quality of life for these children.
