Shook Once Again Earns Top Rating on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index
Shook, Hardy & Bacon has earned 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC’s) 2013 Corporate Equality Index, a top rating that secures the firm a place on HRC’s list of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” for the fifth consecutive year.
“Inclusion makes us a stronger firm, and we are truly honored by HRC’s recognition,” said Shook Chair John Murphy. “We better serve our clients by bringing a wealth of perspectives and experiences to the resolution of their legal issues.”
The 2013 Corporate Equality Index rated more than 650 U.S. employers in various industries; more than 140 law firms were ranked, including a majority of The American Lawyer’s 200 highest-grossing law firms. Shook was one of 71 law firms to receive a 100-percent score.
The current survey examined various industries’ workplace protections and benefits for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees across the United States. Law firms and other companies were evaluated on a scale from 0 to 100 using criteria that included whether the businesses provide inclusive equal employment opportunity policies, provide equal employment benefits and publicly demonstrate support for LGBT equality.
The Human Rights Campaign is the largest LGBT civil rights organization in the United States.
