Duncan to Present With Harvard and Georgetown Law Professors on “The Lawsuits That Could Transform American Public Education"
Shook, Hardy & Bacon Partner Tristan Duncan will join Georgetown University Law Professor Sheryll Cashin and Harvard Law School Carl M. Loeb Professor Laurence Tribe in a September 30, 2014, panel discussion titled "Getting the Best Education for All Our Kids: The Lawsuits That Could Transform American Public Schools." Hosted by the Aspen Institute Justice and Society Program in Washington, D.C., the event will consider how "barriers to excellent public education through teacher tenure provisions, spending caps, and other state constitutional, legislative and regulatory provisions are being challenged in lawsuits from coast to coast." Duncan and the other panelists will discuss (i) the educational needs of children versus teacher benefits, (ii) the impact of housing patterns on education, (iii) the role of communities in achieving racial equity and better educational outcomes, and (iv) First Amendment concerns.
