Missouri Bar Foundation Honors Gray with Spurgeon Smithson Award
The Missouri Bar Foundation honored Shook, Hardy & Bacon Partner Jon R. Gray with a Spurgeon Smithson Award at an awards luncheon during the Missouri Bar’s Annual Meeting on September 10, 2014, in Kansas City. The annual award recognizes “significant contributions to the administration of justice” by Missouri judges, academics and lawyers.
Judge Gray joined SHB in 2007 after serving more than 20 years on the bench in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Missouri. In August 2007, he became chair of the Judicial Council of the National Bar Association. Judge Gray is also active in The Missouri Bar, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and Jackson County Bar Association. He has served as a faculty member for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in regional and national seminars since 1987 in addition to serving as faculty for the Kessler-Edison Program in Trial Techniques at Emory University School of Law and the Missouri Judicial College.
