Barkett and Strand Elected to American Law Institute
Shook, Hardy & Bacon Miami Partner John Barkett and Kansas City Partner Peter Strand have been elected to The American Law Institute. Barkett and Strand were elected with 81 other judges, lawyers and law professors from 28 states and the District of Columbia.
The Institute drafts, discusses, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, model statutes, and principles of law that are influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education. It was founded in 1923 to promote the clarification and simplification of U.S. Common Law and its adaption to changing social needs.
By participating in the Institute's work, members have the opportunity to influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, to work with other eminent lawyers, judges, and academics, to give back to their profession and to contribute to the public good.
