KCMBA Honors Simpson and Salcedo at Annual Meeting
Shook, Hardy & Bacon Partner Jay Simpson and Associate Maria Salcedo were recognized with President’s Awards at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s (KCMBA’s) 132nd Annual Meeting on December 9, 2016 at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The distinguished honor is “given to an individual or group based upon service to the profession, reflecting favorably on the mission and objectives of the Association.”
Simpson received the President’s Award on behalf of the Military Matters Operating Committee, which he currently chairs. The committee, which started less than a year ago, works with the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation to provide pro bono legal services to veterans and active-duty military personnel in the greater Kansas City area.
Salcedo was recognized for her committed service to the Hispanic Bar Association of Greater Kansas City (HBAGKC) and has served as President of the organization in 2012 and 2016. The HBAGKC works to recruit and provide financial assistance to Hispanic law students and serve as the voice for Hispanics in the legal community. Salcedo was one of five representatives of Kansas City’s diversity bar associations.
