Saikali Quoted in Law360 on Ashley Madison FTC Data Breach Settlement

Shook, Hardy & Bacon Data Security and Privacy Group Co-Chair Al Saikali offers steps to forming effective data privacy practices in a December 15 Law360 article, “Ashley Madison Pact Spotlights Cross-Border Enforcement.”

In the wake of Ashley Madison’s settlement with the Federal Trade Commission for inadequate data security policies leading to its massive 2015 data breach, Saikali notes that when a company promises to protect sensitive information, “they must at least prepare a written information security policy, implement reasonable access controls, provide security training to employees, be aware of the security measures their service providers are using, and monitor the effectiveness of their system security.” He emphasizes, “This is good advice for all companies.”
