Adams, Justus and Carew Presenters at Missouri Bar/Missouri Judicial Conference
Shook Partner Rob Adams, Of Counsel Jolie Justus and Director of Strategic Diversity Initiatives Kori Carew all were presenters at the Annual Meeting of the Missouri Bar/Missouri Judicial Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, September 13-15, 2017. The annual CLE event brings together attorneys, members of the judiciary and featured speakers to explore issues facing practitioners and the Missouri state judicial system, and honors members for distinguished public service.
Adams presented “How Civil and Criminal Jury Instructions Get Approved By Those Who Know,” a session on drafting jury instructions, with the Hon. Patrick K. Robb, Circuit Judge for the 5th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri; judges from the Missouri Supreme Court, the Courts of Appeals and state circuit courts attended the session.
Justus participated in the “Winning Elections, Balancing a Practice, Tradition of Community Leadership … Perspectives on Leaders Serving in Elected Office,” panel moderated by the Hon. Sylvester “Sly” James, Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri. Also on the panel were Francis G. Slay of Spencer Fane and former mayor of St. Louis; Missouri Rep. Jay Barnes; and the Hon. Timothy J. Flook, Circuit Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit.
Carew presented a session on fostering diversity and inclusion in law firms, “Sponsoring, Mentoring, Both? Modern Models to Advance Legal Careers and a Legal Profession.” Shook, Hardy & Bacon was a co-sponsor of the conference.
