Olson to Present CLE on Trans Law at KCMBA
Shook Associate Mary Olson will co-present “Cultural Competency: Assisting Transgender Clients With Name Changes & Gender Marker Corrections,” at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) Conference Center in Kansas City, Missouri, November 15, 2018.
The CLE program, developed with the KCMBA Diversity Section, will provide an overview of the law and break down the process of helping transgender individuals change government-issued identification documents, which are crucial for employment, housing, health care and safety.
Olson’s co-presenter is Jay-Marie Hill, transgender education and advocacy program coordinator for the ACLU of Missouri. In addition to her product liability litigation practice, Olson represents transgender clients through the firm’s pro bono program and is a member of the Trans Legal Services Network.
Program participants may receive CLE in credit in Missouri or Kansas (pending). The event is free to KCMBA members. Registration may be completed online at www.kcmba.org.
