Trump To Nominate Matt Keenan to Legal Services Corporation Board

President Donald J. Trump has announced his intent to nominate Shook Partner Matt Keenan to the board of directors of the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), the independent nonprofit that provides financial support for legal aid programs in the United States.

Keenan would serve the remainder of a three-year term that expires July 13, 2020.

Established by Congress in 1974, LSC promotes equal access to justice by funding legal services programs that serve low-income Americans. Headed by a bipartisan board, LSC grantees serve thousands of individuals, children, families, seniors and veterans in more than 800 locations in each state, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories.

Keenan currently serves on the board of trustees of Legal Aid of Western Missouri, and is a former chair of Shook’s Pro Bono Committee. A seasoned trial attorney and prolific writer, he has been honored for outstanding service by The Kansas Bar, and is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 United States, Who’s Who Legal and Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers.
