McClatchy, AP Report on Missouri Medical Marijuana Application Lawsuits, Shook Partner Greg Wu Provides Insight

The Kansas City Star interviewed Shook Partner Greg Wu for the story, “Hundreds Denied Missouri Medical Marijuana Business Licenses—and It’s Not Clear Why.” The article, which was carried in McClatchy Company newspapers nationwide and the Associated Press, references Wu in its investigation of apparent inconsistencies in the scoring of Missouri medical marijuana business license applications by a third-party firm hired by the state, and the subsequent appeals and lawsuits by those denied.

“I really think you’re going to see a number of additional lawsuits filed challenging the rules for medical marijuana applications,” said Wu, who co-chairs the Cannabis Law Practice with Partner Katie Gates Calderon.

Shook launched its Cannabis Law Practice in 2019 with the co-authoring of the white paper after a survey of general counsel, “Wild West or New Frontier? Shook Takes the Pulse of General Counsel on Maturation of Global Cannabis Market.”
