Vieux Elected as Chair of the ABA’s Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division

The American Bar Association (ABA) has elected Shook Of Counsel Steve Vieux this month to serve as the chair of its Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division (GPSLD) for a one-year term. Vieux is a former senior attorney with the Federal Trade Commission where he led antitrust investigations in the health care and pharmaceutical industries.

“I chose to begin my career in the public sector where I obtained hands-on litigation experience and specialized knowledge in my practice area of antitrust and trade regulation,” Vieux told the ABA. “Public sector positions are ideal first jobs for young attorneys as they often provide opportunities to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience in a short period of time.”

The GSLPD provides resources, programming and services to the specific needs of government lawyers. This includes CLE programs on ethics and negotiation skills, The Public Lawyer magazine, and networking opportunities to promote excellence within the public sector.

At Shook, Vieux brings a focus on product, business, and antitrust investigation litigation in the automotive, life science, and food and beverage industries. As the 2020-2021 chair, Vieux is “honored to serve this Division by working to provide practical, timely products and services to our members.” Vieux has worked on behalf of the ABA before as chair-elect in 2019.
