Shook Stands With Our Asian-American and Pacific Islander Colleagues
Shook condemns violence committed on the basis of any number of factors, including race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, marital status, national origin, political belief or affiliation, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other class of individuals protected under state or federal law. Recent events have had a profound impact on our nation, communities, individuals and the entire firm – a chilling example is the recent killing in Atlanta that took the lives of eight individuals, including six Asian women.
Violence and attacks targeting Asian-Americans continue to rise, causing anxiety, grief, fear and sadness for all of us and our communities. To our Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander colleagues, you have our unwavering support. You serve as an essential part of our Shook family, and we share your grief.
These events reaffirm the steps and initiatives Shook is taking to advance diversity, equity and inclusion. Our focus remains on embracing our differences, varied backgrounds and perspectives. During these times, serving as allies and providing support for one another is crucial. Please be open and willing to listen and learn from others and their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
The D&I Committee, in partnership with firm leadership, our diverse partners, our Diversity Advocates, Employee Resource Group leaders, and host of others in our firm community stand with you and are here to listen. If anyone might wish to talk with someone or express concern about an issue or event, please reach out to any of us, a fellow colleague or the resource noted below.
