Shook Attorneys Chosen to Participate in Leadership Council for Legal Diversity

The Leadership Council for Legal Diversity (LCLD) has selected Shook Of Counsel Antar Vaughan and Associates Mayela Montenegro and Shannon Schoultz as a Fellow and Pathfinders, respectively. In their roles, Shook attorneys will participate in relationship-building and professional development opportunities designed for diverse, high-potential attorneys. The LCLD mission is to inspire leadership, action and results to foster a diverse legal workforce for attorneys at the beginning of their career (Pathfinders) and mid-level career (Fellows).

“I am thankful for programs that are dedicated to investing in diverse attorneys,” said Schoultz. “This is one small step toward ensuring the legal industry continues to diversify itself to more accurately reflect the growing minority in this country.”

Shook is also committed to continuing to develop a diverse generation of lawyers through mentorship and professional development. Selection for participation for the Fellows program is based on demonstrated leadership skills, community engagement as well as internal engagement with the organization. Pathfinders are attorneys early in their careers chosen to help foster their leadership through peer networking and working with LCLD program professionals.

"I am honored to represent Shook as part of this program," said Montenegro. "It’s important for the legal profession to embrace diversity and acknowledge that it’s good business.  Shook has been at the forefront of this effort, and I am proud to be part of it."

LCLD will be kicking off the 2021 season virtually this year beginning Wednesday, May 12 through Friday, May 14, 2021. Congratulations to the selected attorneys.
