Shook was recognized as one of the top 30 law firms in the country by BTI Consulting Group in its annual client service survey, based on rankings from law firm clients for 2020. Shook entered into the top tier of the annual list for the first time since BTI began conducting the survey 20 years ago.
The BTI Client Service A-Team 2021 Survey is based on interviews with 350 general counsel and other in-house legal officials and includes hundreds of law firms that work with U.S. clients with at least $1 billion in annual revenue. Firms were rated by in-house counsel on the client services offered by the law firms in relevant client service activities, and this year included law firms’ performances in response to COVID-19 pandemic challenges faced by clients.
According to BTI, clients doubled the activities they expected firms to deliver in 2020 to prove they are excellent at client service, and Shook excelled at all 17 of the client services specified. This included clients rating Shook as excelling in three categories new to the survey this year—
- Mobilizes Resources Quickly,
- Fielding the Absolute Best Team, and
- Quickly Assessing the Situation.
Shook’s #23 ranking among the top 30 major law firms reflects Shook’s rapid shift to meeting new client demands with the sudden lockdown caused by the pandemic last year. Shook expanded services, rallied teams, communicated with clients and then seamlessly implemented new services and resources needed by clients. The firm’s ranking was recognized by Law360 in “In-House Leaders Rank Top Firms in Client Service in 2020.”
