The Law School Dean of The George Washington University Law School has appointed Shook Partner John Lewis, Jr. to serve as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council. Lewis, along with other alumni and accomplished legal professionals, will serve as an advisor to Dean Dayna Matthew on a variety of legal issues.
“Having earned my law degree from GW Law, it is an honor to be asked to participate in this important role,” said Lewis, a 1990 alumnus of the law school. “Providing strategic guidance on preparing the next generation of lawyers is something I take very seriously and I’m humbled to be working with peers who are like-minded about education and issues pertaining to the legal industry.”
The council is comprised of alumni and top-tier legal professionals at the highest level of their fields, who will provide the dean with expert advice on a variety of issues. Lewis has more than 25 years of experience as a trial lawyer, in-house litigation and compliance counsel. In addition, he chairs Shook’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives.
